MAJOR FLOODS IN KENYA.
Major floods have devastated Kenya as climate change worsens. The death toll reached at least 100 and thousands of people were displaced. The worst affected areas include the city of Nairobi and the western and central parts of the country. Unfortunately, the situation is expected to worsen as the Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning next week and warned residents to be careful. Recent rains have destroyed infrastructure, collapsing roads in Mahi Mahiu,Athi river areas and bridges in areas like Elegeyo Marakwet county,landslides have happened in Mathioya in Muranga county killing people and destroyed homes hence displacing several families,Lake Victoria has also submerged a town called Sindo in Homabay county.In counties like Nairobi several families have been displaced in mathare,kibra and more than 64 schools have been forced to close due to flooding.
