MAJOR FLOODS IN KENYA

Major floods have devastated Kenya as climate change worsens.

The death toll reached at least 90 and thousands of people were displaced.

The worst affected areas include the city of Nairobi and the western and central parts of the country.

Unfortunately, the situation is expected to worsen as the Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning next week and warned residents to be careful.

Recent rains have destroyed infrastructure, collapsing roads and bridges, and more than 64 schools have been forced to close due to flooding.

Flooding is worsened by the effects of climate change, including the ongoing El Niño weather pattern and the Indian Ocean Dipole, which brings heavy rains to the region.

Experts warn that these extreme weather events have become "normal" and that dealing with their devastating effects requires strong planning and effort.

The recovery and solidarity of the Kenyan people is fully evident, with the government allocating 4 billion Kenyan shillings (US$29 million) for emergency relief, and volunteers and aid agencies working tirelessly to provide aid to those affected. . Provide support to those affected.

But the scale of this crisis requires urgent and sustained action to save lives and rebuild communities regularly affected by floods.
